Location: Irvine Blvd and Lambert Road
- What to Expect:
- You will be exposed to the elements, so please plan accordingly
- Repeated bending, walking, and moving around on the uneven ground
- Shade and water will be available for breaks as needed
- What to Wear/Bring:
- Footwear: Closed-toed, sturdy rubber-soled running/tennis shoes or hiking boots (keep in mind shoes could get muddy)
- Clothing:
- Long sleeves are highly recommended because some plants have small prickly spines.
- Full-length pants are required.
- Hats/Sunscreen are highly encouraged (this is an outdoor opportunity with limited shade)
- Garden gloves appropriate for food handling (gloves that have not been used for handling insecticides, pesticides, etc.) If you do not have a pair, one-time-use disposable gloves will be available to you.
- For personal safety reasons and to prevent foreign object contamination, we ask volunteers to refrain from wearing jewelry that dangles and/or has detachable pieces, such as bracelets, necklaces, and dangly earrings.
- Refillable water bottle (there will be water available)
- Leave valuable items at home, as Second Harvest is not responsible for lost or stolen items
- Minor Volunteers:
- This opportunity is available to volunteers 10 years old and above with an adult chaperone age 21+.
- The following ratios of adult chaperones to minor volunteers must be followed:
- Ages 10-12: (1) chaperone age 21+ per (5) minors
- Ages 13-17: (1) chaperone age 21+ per (10) minors.
- Adult participant/chaperone must register online and include all minor volunteers in their party size when registering.

- Both forms must be completed by a parent/guardian for EACH minor participant and brought to check-in on the day of the volunteer shift.
